How to Manually Assign a Lexile® Benchmark Exam or Placement Exam
If Lexile® assessments are included in your license, as a teacher or administrator, you can follow these steps to manually assign a Lexile® benchmark or placement exam.
You will need to assign the Lexile® benchmark or placement exam through a project. If you do not know how to create a project, see How to Create Projects (Faculty).
You can create a project from a Faculty or Building Administrator account. (District Administrators can also create a project, but they cannot assign it to students - they must share the project with others in order for it to be assigned.) In the steps below, we will be using a Faculty account, but the Building Administrator account process is the same.
- When you create a new project or edit an existing project, you will see a section at the bottom called "Add Tasks." Click the plus button next to Lexile® Exam Task to add a Lexile® task.

- After you select this task, a window will open. Give the task a title (tasks require titles before saving), and select the appropriate Lexile® exam to assign to your students by checking the radio button. (The explanations in the window can help you choose.) After selecting the Lexile® exam and giving the task a title, click the red X to close the window. Note: You cannot change the type of Lexile® exam on a task after it has been created. To make a change, you must delete the task and add a new Lexile® task.

- After you add the task to the project, it will appear under "Order Tasks" to the right. Click Save at the top of the screen to save the project.

- Just like other projects, once this project is saved or newly created you will need to assign students to it. If you do not know how to assign students to a project, see How to Assign Projects (Faculty).
