# Star Math Scaled Score

The Scaled Score is the most fundamental score produced by Star Math tests. It ranges from 0–1400 and spans grades 1–12. It is calculated based on the difficulty of the questions and the number of correct responses. Scaled Scores are useful for comparing student performance over time and across grades. In Star Math tests, all other norm-referenced scores are derived from the Scaled Score.

In the graph on the Math Overview, you can select median Scaled Score comparisons between a student and group, class, school, district, and national scores. For a class, you can select comparisons to school, district, and national scores.
