Screening Report

Who can do this with default capabilities?

District Level Administrators, District Staff, School Level Administrators, School Staff, Teachers

The Screening Report is used to identify students who are having difficulty reaching benchmarks. Once those students have been identified, you can begin to organize your intervention plan. Students who are not reaching a specific benchmark can be further divided into groups to help you focus your resources on the students who need the most help. The Screening Report shows this data for multiple students; the Student Progress Monitoring Report shows this data for a single student.

Although kindergarten students can take the Star Math test, the Screening Report cannot be created for them.

The report will indicate if any students took a test using extended time limits, with a footnote explanation.

Teachers who have had the Manage Screening, Progress Monitoring & Intervention capability removed can only run this report for their own students.

The recommended Accelerated Math Live library is based on a student's Star Math score and reflects the instructional level at which a student is likely ready to practice. It appears on the Screening, Diagnostic, and Accelerated Math Library reports. This recommendation must be considered in combination with other factors, such as class work and your knowledge of the student. Star data for instructional planning is more fully integrated within Accelerated Math 2.0.

Note: If no students have taken a test within the Current Screening Dates, you cannot create a Screening Report.

    Reporting Parameter Group

The Screening Report shows data for a single reporting period, either one of the default screening dates or a range that has been set up by a district level administrator or school level administrator.

Use this option to choose which benchmark you want to show on this report: the school's, the district's, or the state's. Not all benchmarks may be available; a default benchmark (such as the school or district) should be set in those cases.

Note: This Benchmark option will not be available to non-Enterprise customers; the school benchmarks will be used.

If you choose a specific grade level for the Select Students option and your state benchmark for the Benchmark option, but the chosen grade does not have a state benchmark, then "No state benchmark available for this grade" will be shown in place of the Show Student Details options.

Use this option to show the categories the students are in on the report. You can choose to show all of the categories, none of them, or only specific ones.

If you choose a specific grade level for the Select Students option and your state benchmark for the Benchmark option, but the chosen grade does not have a state benchmark, then "No state benchmark available for this grade" will be shown in place of the Show Student Details options.

If you choose anything other than a specific grade level for the Select Students option, then "Student details will be included for all categories" will be shown in place of the Show Student Details options.

Use this option to choose whether to show each student's GE score on the report.

Choose how to group the information on the report: by class, grade, or teacher.

Note: This report uses both the Group By and Sort By options; on the report, the Group By option is applied first.

Choose how to sort information on the report: by students' last names or by their Scaled Scores (in descending order).

Note: This report uses both the Group By and Sort By options; if a Group By option is chosen, it is applied first on the report.

Use this option to print a list of the options you've chosen on the report. If you decide to run the report again at a later date, you can refer to this list of options to make sure you're using the same ones.

  3. Click View Report when you are finished choosing options.
  4. Star Math will generate the report. When it's ready, the report will open in Adobe Reader, or your default PDF reader.
