Requiring an Answer to a Security Question When Parents Request Access

Who can do this with default capabilities?

Server Administrators, District Administrators

By following the steps below, the district administrator can require parents who want access to Renaissance Place to answer a security question. This can help you make sure that the person who fills out the request form is actually the parent and not someone else. Make sure that the information you're requesting is information that the district can confirm.

If a parent has the address for the software, but he or she does not have a user name or password, the parent can select a link on the Parent login page to request access to the software. If you follow the steps below to require a security question, the parent must answer this question in the request form.

  1. On the Home page, select Product Administration.
  2. Select Set Security Options for Students and Parents.
  3. On the next page, scroll down to the Ask Parent Security Question options. Then, choose the second option and enter the question in the blank field provided below this option. (Note that the parent's response will be limited to 50 characters.)

  4. Select Save to save your changes.
