RESP model Renaissance Responders use version 4.x firmware. Responders with version 4.01 can be updated to version 4.03 and above (see the instructions below).

RESP model Responders include both MathFacts in a Flash RP (online work that allows you to master levels) and MathFacts in a Flash Offline. These Responders have all features available, including MathFacts level mastery and practice, assigned owners, notes, and homework. For these Responders, font size can be changed in the settings, not by changing the firmware version.

Updating Responder Firmware

Notes:

  • The time it takes to perform an update depends on the number of Responders being updated. If you are updating all of the Responders for your classroom, it could take up to two hours.
  • Only one version of firmware may be installed at a time on Responder model RES-1001, but you can install a different firmware version at any time. To practice MathFacts in a Flash problems, students must use firmware version 2.xx.
  • Before you update, you must have NEO Manager or the 2Know! Toolbar installed.

To update the firmware on your Responders, follow these steps:

  1. Press the On/Off button to start the Responder.
  2. Use the arrow keys to highlight Settings and press Select.
  3. Use the arrow keys to highlight Firmware Update and press Select.
  4. If the Responder asks if you want to stay connected to the Receiver, press yes/True and then Enter.
  5. If updated firmware is available, scroll to the newest update available and press Select.
  6. Enter the Administrator PIN (the default is 1234), and press Enter.
  7. If you changed the Administrator PIN when you changed the Receiver settings, use the PIN you set.

The Responder will start updating the firmware. The program shows you its progress as it does the update. When the update is complete, the Responder will show you the new version number. Press any key to go to the Responder menu or the student PIN entry screen.
