Editing the TOPS Report Preference

Who can do this with default capabilities?

District Administrator, School Administrator, Teacher

District staff and school staff can view the setting, but they cannot change it.

The TOPS Report Preference allows you to specify whether students will have the option to print a TOPS Report after each practice and test. You can also use the preference to specify whether a line for a parent signature is included on the report.

TOPS Reports are generated, but do not automatically print, when a practice or test is completed in MathFacts in a Flash Renaissance Place. To view the TOPS Report, select TOPS. To print the TOPS Report, select Print.

When students use NEO 2 or Renaissance Responder, by default TOPS Reports print automatically after each online practice and/or test completed. Offline work does not generate TOPS Reports.

Teachers can always print TOPS Reports from the Assignment Book.

What this preference affects

This preference affects:

  • MathFacts in a Flash Renaissance Place (computer or tablet)
  • NEO 2 using the MathFacts in a Flash RP SmartApplet
  • Responder model RESP using firmware version 4.03 and above and MathFacts in a Flash Renaissance Place
  • Note: Renaissance Responders and NEO 2 will no longer be supported after future software updates.

This preference does not affect:

  • NEO 2 using the MathFacts in a Flash (offline) SmartApplet
  • Renaissance Responders that are using a firmware version lower than 4.03 or that are using MathFacts in a Flash Offline
  • Renaissance Home Connect

Changing the preference settings

  1. On the Home page, select MathFacts in a Flash, then Preferences as shown below.

  2. If necessary, use the School and Class drop-down lists (above the preferences tables) to choose the school and class.
  3. Under Classroom Preferences, select TOPS Report.
  4. First, select one of the TOPS Report options for practices:
    • After each practice means that when students use the program in a web browser on a computer or tablet, they will have the TOPS button available so that they can see or print their TOPS Report.
    • For students who use NEO 2s or Renaissance Responders, the TOPS Report will print after each practice.

    • After a practice session is only used for students who are using NEO 2 or Renaissance Responders to complete online MathFacts in a Flash work. When this option is selected, a TOPS Report will be printed after students log out, and the TOPS Report will cover all practices that the students completed since they last logged in to MathFacts in a Flash RP on the device.
    • Disabled for practices means that students who are working on computers or tablets will not see the TOPS Report button after practices, and students using other devices will not have them printed automatically after practices.
  5. Next, choose an option for tests:
    • After each test means that when students use the program in a web browser on a computer or tablet, they will have the TOPS button available so that they can see or print their TOPS Report.
    • For students who use NEO 2s or Renaissance Responders, the TOPS Report will print after each test.
