Editing the Monitor Password Preference

Who can do this with default capabilities?

District Administrator, School Administrator, Teacher

Note: District staff and school staff can view the setting for the monitor password, but they cannot change it.

The Monitor Password preference allows you to

  • require a monitor password be entered whenever a student stops a test or a mandatory practice
  • set the monitor password your class monitors must use

This preference affects:

  • MathFacts in a Flash Renaissance Place (computer or tablet)
  • NEO 2 using the MathFacts in a Flash RP SmartApplet
  • Enhanced Responder (RESP) using firmware version 4.03 and above and MathFacts in a Flash Renaissance Place
  • Note: Renaissance Responders and NEO 2 will no longer be supported after future software updates.

This preference does not affect:

  • NEO 2 using the MathFacts in a Flash (offline) SmartApplet
  • Renaissance Responders that are using a firmware version lower than 4.03 or that are using MathFacts in a Flash Offline
  • Renaissance Home Connect

To change the preference, follow these steps:

  1. On the Home page, select MathFacts in a Flash, then Preferences as shown below.

  2. If necessary, use the School and Class drop-down lists to choose the school and class.
  3. Under the Classroom Preferences, select Monitor Password.
  4. To allow students to stop tests and practices without a monitor password, remove the check from the Require Monitor Password box.
  5. To change the monitor password, enter a new password in the field. Note the monitor password and be sure to inform all class monitors.

    To return to the default settings, select Default.

  6. Select Save.
