Monitor Password Preference

The Accelerated Reader monitor password is set in the Monitor Password preference. This preference can be found under the School Student Quizzing preferences.

The setting shows the monitor password that's been created for Accelerated Reader. This password must be used whenever the program asks for a monitor password; teachers, administrators, and staff cannot use their own passwords.

If you require a monitor password in certain instances (using the Monitor Password Required Preference) and/or you allow your quiz monitors to override blocks and restrictions on quizzing (using the Monitor Override Preference), you should use this preference to set the password that you want your quiz monitors to use.

To view or change the Monitor Password, follow these steps:

  1. On the Home page, if you see Accelerated Reader, click it, then click Preferences.

    If you have the Accelerated Reader 360 Suite, select Independent Reading, then Preferences.

  2. Click Student Quizzing in the School Preferences section of the Preferences page.
  3. If necessary, choose a school from the School drop-down list on the View School Student Quizzing Preferences page. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you can see the current Monitor Password.

If you are a school administrator or district administrator, you will also have an Edit Student Quizzing link at the top of the page. If you want to change the Monitor Password preference, select the link.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you can then change the Monitor Password for the selected school. If you change this setting or other settings on the page, click Save to save your changes or Cancel to leave the page without saving.
