Editing the TWI Settings Preference

You can use the TWI Settings preference to indicate if you want the students in a class asked how a book was read or if you want the program to automatically mark it as Read Independently. The settings in this preference apply on Reading Practice and Other Reading Quizzes.

Who can do this with standard capabilities?

District Administrators, School Administrators, Teachers

Note: The settings in this preference apply only if you've enabled the TWI Monitoring Preference.

If you copied classes from the previous school year, this preference setting will carry over from the previous school year too.

  1. On the Home page, if you see Accelerated Reader, click it, then click Preferences.

If you have the Accelerated Reader 360 Suite, select Independent Reading, then Preferences.

  2. Click Quiz Settings if the page has a separate Individual Student Preferences section.
  3. If necessary, choose a school and class from the drop-down lists on the View Individual Student Setting Preferences page. If you want only the Accelerated Reader classes you are assigned to as a teacher to be in the class list, regardless of the school, choose My Classes instead of a school.
  4. Click Edit TWI Settings.
  5. The Edit TWI Settings Preference page shows you the setting for each student in the class.
  6. Use the drop-down list in the row for each student to choose the setting you want for that student. You can choose to have the program ask the student how the book was read or to have the program automatically mark the book as Read Independently.

You can apply the same setting to all the students in this class at once. Under Set all student values at the top of the list, choose the setting you want applied from the TWI Settings drop-down list. Then, click Update all students.

  7. Click Save when you're finished.
