Editing the TOPS Report Language Preference

You can use the TOPS Report Language preference to specify what language you want the TOPS Report to print in for individual students or to allow the students to choose the language they want. TOPS Reports can be printed in English or Spanish. The settings in this preference apply to Reading Practice quizzes.

Who can do this with standard capabilities?

District Administrators, School Administrators, Teachers

The settings in this preference apply only if you've enabled the TOPS Report Printing Preference.

If you copied classes from the previous school year, this preference setting will carry over from the previous school year too.

  1. On the Home page, if you see Accelerated Reader, click it, then click Preferences.

    If you have the Accelerated Reader 360 Suite, select Independent Reading, then Preferences.

  2. Click Quiz Settings under Individual Student Preferences on the Preferences page.
  3. If necessary, choose a school and class from the drop-down lists on the View Individual Student Setting Preferences page. If you want only the Accelerated Reader RP classes you are assigned to as a teacher to be in the class list, regardless of the school, choose My Classes instead of a school.
  4. Click Edit TOPS Language.
  5. The Edit Student TOPS Language Preference page shows you the setting for each student in the class.
  6. Use the drop-down list in the row for each student to choose the setting you want for that student. You can choose: Ask Student (to have the program always ask the student which language he or she wants the TOPS Report to print in), Always English (to have the report always print in English), or Always Spanish (to have the report always print in Spanish).

    You can apply the same setting to all the students in this class at once. Under Set all student values at the top of the list, choose the setting you want applied from the TOPS Language drop-down list. Then, click Update all students.

  7. Click Save when you're finished.
