Editing the Recorded Voice Preference

The Recorded Voice preference governs what choice (if any) will be the default for your students when they choose to take a Recorded Voice Quiz. Follow the steps below to set the preference.

Who can do this with standard capabilities?

District Administrators, School Administrators, Teachers

If you copied classes from the previous school year, this classroom preference setting will carry over from the previous school year too.

  1. On the Home page, if you see Accelerated Reader, click it, then click Preferences.

If you have the Accelerated Reader 360 Suite, select Independent Reading, then Preferences.

  2. Click Quiz Settings under Individual Student Preferences on the Preferences page.
  3. The View Individual Student Setting Preferences page opens. If necessary, choose a school and class from the drop-down lists. Click My Classes instead of a school if you want only the Accelerated Reader RP classes you are assigned to as a teacher to be in the class list, regardless of the school.
  4. Click Edit Recorded Voice.
  5. The Edit Recorded Voice Preference page shows you the preference setting for each student in the class you chose to work with. This preference governs what default choice (if any) the students see regarding Recorded Voice when they are ready to take a quiz.
  6. To change the settings, use the drop-down list in the row for each student to choose the setting you want.

    You have four choices:

    • On: All. This sets the default choice to "On" for all quizzes that have Recorded Voice so that the student would automatically get the Recorded Voice Quiz unless he or she chose the option not to do so.
    • On: Read To or With. This sets the default choice to "On" for all quizzes that have Recorded Voice and where the book was Read To or Read With the student so that the student would automatically get the Recorded Voice Quiz unless he or she chose the option not to do so. This option only works if you have the TWI Monitoring Preference enabled.
    • Off: All. This sets the default choice to "Off" for all quizzes that have Recorded Voice so that the student would not automatically get the Recorded Voice Quiz unless he or she chose the option to do so.
    • Do Not Allow. This does not allow the student to use Recorded Voice for any quizzes. If you chose this option, the student would not be asked whether or not to use Recorded Voice.
    • You can apply the same setting to all of the students in this class at one time. Under Set all student values at the top of the list, choose the setting you want from the Recorded Voice drop-down list. Then, click Update all students.

  7. Click Save when you're finished.
