Editing the School Date and Time Restriction Preferences

If you want to limit when students can take quizzes, use this preference to choose the dates and times when quizzing is allowed. You can also choose whether to allow quizzing on Saturdays and Sundays.

Who can do this with standard capabilities?

The School Date and Time Restriction preferences include the following: Date Restrictions, Time Restrictions, Weekend Restrictions, and Monitor Override. Each preference is described below in the step with the directions for changing its settings. The settings apply to all quiz types (Reading Practice, Vocabulary Practice, Literacy Skills, and Other Reading).

  1. On the Home page, if you see Accelerated Reader, click it, then click Preferences.

    If you have the Accelerated Reader 360 Suite, select Independent Reading, then Preferences.

  2. Click Date and Time Restrictions in the School Preferences section on the Preferences page.
  3. Choose a school from the School drop-down list on the View Date and Time Restriction Preferences page.
  4. Click Edit Date and Time Restrictions.
  5. The Edit Date and Time Restriction Preferences page opens. The settings found on this page and instructions for changing each one are listed below:
    • Date Restrictions: These settings specify dates before and after which the students at this school are not allowed to take quizzes. To edit:
      1. If you want to restrict students from quizzing before or after a certain date, check the Before Date or After Date box.
      2. Type the date before or after which you do not want the students quizzing, or click the calendar button to choose a date.
    • Time Restrictions: These settings specify times of the day before and after which the students at this school are not allowed to take quizzes. To edit:
      1. To restrict students from quizzing before or after a certain time, check the Before Time or After Time box.
      2. Then, type the time of day before or after which you do not want the students quizzing. Make sure you also type AM or PM or use 24-hour time.
    • Weekend Restrictions: This shows whether students at this school are restricted from taking quizzes on weekends (Saturday or Sunday). To change the setting, check the Weekend Restrictions Enabled box to restrict the students from quizzing on weekends.
    • Monitor Override: These settings show whether the monitor has permission to override blocks so that students can quiz during a restricted date or time.
    • The School Student Quizzing preferences also have a setting for allowing the monitor to override the preference. If you change this setting here, it will also be changed there.

      To change the setting, check the Allow monitor password override of Date and Time Restrictions box to allow your quiz monitors to override any date or time restrictions you've set up on quizzing.

  6. Click Save when you've finished.
