Deleting a Student's Vocabulary Practice Quiz Record

You can delete a student's quiz record so that it does not count toward the student's goals and does not appear in the reports on the student's work. To do this, follow the steps below.

When you delete a quiz record, the student can retake the quiz. Before you do this, please read quiz record deletion best practices.

Note that you can also transfer a quiz record from one student to another if the student took a quiz while another student was logged in.

Who can do this with standard capabilities?

District Administrators, School Administrators, Teachers

The words for a single Vocabulary Practice title can show up on several different Vocabulary Practice Quizzes (as first-try new words, second-try new words, first-try review words, and second-try review words) depending on when the student learns the word. However, you can only delete Vocabulary Practice Quiz records by quiz, and only the last quiz the student took can be deleted. When you delete this quiz, all data from the quiz is deleted, including data on the first-try new words, second-try new words, first-try review words, and second-try review words that appeared on the quiz. Any words that the student learned on this quiz, regardless of the title they are from, are removed from the student's Words Learned List.

  1. On the Home page, if you see Accelerated Reader, click it, then click Record Books and Goals.

If you have the Accelerated Reader 360 Suite, select Independent Reading, then Record Books and Goals.

If necessary, choose the school and class from the drop-down lists. Choose My Classes instead of a school if you want only the Accelerated Reader RP classes you are assigned to as a teacher to be in the class list, regardless of the school.

  2. Click Vocabulary Practice Quizzes in the list of Class Record Books.
  3. Click the name of the student for whom you want to delete a Vocabulary Practice Quiz record on the View Vocabulary Practice Quizzes Record Book page.
  4. You will be on the View Student Vocabulary Practice Records by Quiz page. (Do not choose to view by Title; the Delete option is not available when you view by title.)
  5. The page lists the titles or the quizzes that the student has taken so far.

If the list of quizzes is long, it will be split into multiple pages; click Next >> or << Previous to move through it.

You can also search by quiz number or quiz title for the record you want. Type the exact quiz number in the Student quiz search field on the left side of the page. Then, click Go. If you're searching by title, type all or part of the title, and click Go. The program returns all the student's Vocabulary Practice Quiz records that were taken that match your search criteria. For example, if you typed "am" in the field, your search results may include quiz records for Amber Brown Goes Fourth and Bambi since both titles contain the "am" letter combination. To return to the full list of quiz records, click Show All.

  6. Click Delete in the row for the record you want to delete (remember that you can only delete the last quiz that the student took).
  7. If Delete is not available, an administrator has used the Allow Quiz Deleting Preference to prevent teachers from deleting quiz records.

  8. Click OK if you are sure you want to delete the record. Click Cancel if you do not want to delete the record.
