Creating an Objective List Starting from the Libraries Page

Who can do this with default capabilities?

District Administrators, District Staff, School Administrators, School Staff, Teachers

  1. Select the green Accelerated Math tile (shown below) on the Home page; then, select Libraries.

The Libraries page will list the libraries that are available for one school. If you have access to more than one school, use the School drop-down list to choose a school.

  2. Click Manage Objectives on the left side of the Libraries page.
  3. Click Create New List on the left side of the Manage Objectives page.
  4. The Create New Objective List page will appear. First, enter a name for your list.
  5. Next, click on the list type. Standard lists include objectives from standard libraries, which are the source of assignments for the Assignment Book. Extended Response lists are the source of assignments at the Extended Response page.

If you are an administrator, choose whether to share the list with others and click the appropriate option. My Lists are private lists that aren't available to others. Teachers cannot share lists.

After choosing the list information, click Next >.

  6. The Add/Remove Objectives page will list the libraries from which you can add objectives. First, use the drop-down list to choose whether you want to add objectives by library, by searching for an objective name, or by searching for a state standard code.
  7. If you chose to search by library, to add objectives from a library, you can click Add or Add All in the row for that library. Add allows you to select specific objectives that you want to use. Add All adds all objectives from the library to your current objective list. Please note that objectives are added to the list in the order in which you select them. Start with the library whose objectives should appear first in the list. If you click Add in the row for a library, on the Add Objectives page, check the box next to each objective that you want to add to this list. You can select all the objectives on the page by checking the box next to Objective at the top of the list. If the list is long, only some of the objectives will be shown; click to see the next group, to go back to the previous group, to go to the last group, or to go back to the first group. (You can also use the drop-down list to select a specific group of objectives by number.) Click Add to add the selected objectives and return to the Add/Remove Objectives page.

If you chose to search by objective name, enter part of the objective name and click Search. The search results will show the matching objectives that aren't in your objective list and those that are. The results identify the library that each objective is from. To add objectives that aren't in your list, check the box next to the objectives you want to add; then, click Add. (To limit your search to certain libraries, click Advanced Search before you begin your search; then, check the libraries, and click Select to return to the search page, where you can now enter the name you want to search for in those libraries).

If you chose to search by state standard code, enter all or part of the code and click Search. The search results will show the matching objectives that aren't in your objective list and those that are. The results identify the library that each objective is from. To add objectives that aren't in your list, check the box next to the objectives you want to add; then, click Add. (To limit your search to certain libraries, click Advanced Search before you begin your search; then, check the libraries, and click Select to return to the search page, where you can now enter the standard code you want to search for in those libraries).

As you add objectives, they will be listed on the right side of the Add/Remove Objectives page. To remove a specific objective from the objective list, click X in the row for that objective. To view sample problems for an objective in this list or in your search results, click . If you see the icon, click it to see worked examples, which show the steps required to solve a sample problem and the answer.

Objectives marked with are core objectives.

If you plan to use online assignments in the Assignment Book, choose objectives from second-edition (2E) or Common Core libraries. Although you can use first-edition libraries with online assignments, the 2E and Common Core libraries provide the best performance.

  8. When you have finished adding objectives, click Done. You will return to the Manage Objectives page.
