Changing the Scoring Preference

By following the steps below, you can use the Scoring Preference to set whether students in the class can score paper exercises and tests using AccelScan in Student Mode or using Renaissance Responders or NEO 2. (Note: Renaissance Responders and NEO 2 will no longer be supported after future software updates.)

For both online and paper assignments, you can also determine whether the student's next practice will generate automatically when students score their current practices. (The next practice can be generated automatically if the student has objectives in the Ready to Work stage.)

The Scoring Preference is a class preference. You can only choose settings for one class at a time, but you can choose different settings for different classes.

Who can do this with default capabilities?

District Administrators, School Administrators, Teachers

School and district staff members who aren't teachers cannot change the preference.

  1. Select the green Accelerated Math tile (shown below); then, select Preferences.

If you have access to more than one school, use the School drop-down list above the list of class preferences to choose a school. If you have more than one class, click the Class drop-down list and select a class.

  2. Click Scoring in the list.
  3. On the Scoring Preference page, you will see two check boxes. Check the first box if you want the software to automatically generate the next practice for each student in your class after the student completes or scores the current practice. (This does not apply to practices that teachers score in the Assignment Book using KeyBoard Score.)
  4. The second box sets whether students can score their own paper exercises or tests (in addition to practices) using the AccelScan software in Student mode or using Renaissance Responders or NEO 2s. If you do not allow students to score their own exercises and tests using these methods, teachers can still score them by scanning outside of Student Mode or by using KeyBoard Score in the Assignment Book.
  5. Even if you allow students to score their own paper exercises and tests, please note that students cannot score free-response assignments.

Note: If you want to return this preference to the default settings, click Default. When you choose the default settings, both boxes will be checked.

This preference has no effect on scoring paper exercises or tests online in the Accelerated Math software. It also does not affect whether students can score practices or exercises when they enter the Accelerated Math software through Renaissance Home Connect; for that, use the Renaissance Home Connect Preference.

  6. Click Save to save your changes. If you decide not to save your changes, click Cancel instead.
